Seattle Art Source Presents, “Of Memory and Metal” by Rubeena Ratcliffe.

Of Memory and Metal is a new collection of paintings by Rubeena Ratcliffe that explores the quiet intersections of material, memory, and reflection. Rooted in themes central to her practice—solitude, domestic space, and emotional stillness—the works draw viewers into layered compositions where subtle narrative cues suggest both personal and collective histories.

Ratcliffe’s paintings move between the ordinary and the imagined, creating emotional landscapes that feel at once familiar and elusive. Surfaces and forms hold echoes of use and transformation, much like metal itself—bearing traces of time, touch, and lived experience. Her background in architecture informs the structural sensibilities of the work, while a lifelong attentiveness to the domestic and the poetic gives each piece its quiet resonance.

Across Of Memory and Metal, Ratcliffe invites viewers to slow down, revisit their own recollections, and discover beauty in what is often overlooked—where memory settles gently into material, and stillness becomes a space for reflection. On Display at Seattle Art Source, February 21st thru March 21st 2026.
