"Radiance 15" returns to the open sky, its broad transparency film segments sweeping through an expansive range of blues — soft periwinkle and violet-tinged cloud giving way to pale aqua and cool mint — the palette spanning the full arc of a Pacific Northwest sky from the blue hour of early morning to the bleached clarity of midday. The center is unusually active, the film layers converging in a dense, darkened knot that anchors the otherwise weightless composition, as though all that open sky is held together by a single point of gravity, the surrounding segments radiating outward with an ease and luminosity that feels genuinely airborne. This series entitled “Radiance” speaks to the ancient call of nature and David’s desire to bring his own perspective to the conversation. Harnessing his talent for both the analog and digital, a memento was created which captures from the varied landscapes around David’s pacific northwest home.
