News News & Events Kippi Leonard “Elements and Light” Show Opens in June Posted on April 21, 2022April 21, 2022 by hello@seattleartsource.com “The small, yet significant evocation of feeling.”Seattle Art Source is pleased to announce the upcoming show, “Elements and Light”, by California-based abstract artist, Kippi Leonard. Kippi Leonard asks the viewer to consider, reflect, and experience the art of discovery when observing this body of work. These paintings reveal themselves beyond the first glance. The oil and mixed media works display a lingering, ethereal feeling, a visual emotion; layered within Elements and Light.Self-discovery…the rhythmic and carefully considered mark making with moments of unexpected color emerging from a very minimalistic color palette. Textural tension exists between the elements and light and is to be discovered within the layers of each painting.About the Artist. Formerly of the interior design world, Kippi’s design and color background informs her current abstract expressionist style. Working from her Palm Springs, California studio her work in ink is ethereal and moody as she layers rich colors onto textured materials such as raw canvas and raw linen. Her contemporary oil paintings are abstract in structure yet organic in her choice of colors, mark making and layered techniques. Kippi’s body of work is innovative in her approach, preferring to paint flat and work around the surface adding layers from many different perspectives.
