Teresa Smith

Abstract landscape painter

Friday Harbor, Washington

Teresa Smith’s art is deeply rooted in a naturalist philosophy, blending the richness of oil painting with a meditative and contemplative approach. Growing up in rural eastern Canada, she developed a profound connection to the deep woods, an intimacy with nature that has shaped her artistic journey. Years of hiking through the old-growth forests of the Pacific Northwest, as well as her immersion in the plant world as a master gardener, have profoundly influenced her work.

Teresa holds a degree in Contemplative Arts from Naropa University and is an active member of 'The Artist Trust,' 'The Healing Power of Arts and Artists,' and the 'Federation of Canadian Artists.' She exhibits her abstract landscapes in both the US and Canada, with her work being featured in various magazines, books, and articles. Her paintings are held in private and corporate collections worldwide, and she is represented by galleries and exhibitions in both the US and Canada.

Living on a small island in the Salish Sea, Teresa shares her home with her horses and towering fir trees. Her studio overlooks the majestic Mount Baker, a vista that constantly inspires her connection to the natural world in her work.
