Eric Fanson

Abstract Painter

Port Townsend, Washington

For Eric Fanson, painting is both a grounding ritual and a spiritual practice—a way to feel whole within himself and connect to something greater. His non-representational works are more than paint on canvas; they are acts of transformation, turning raw experience into something newly alive. He hopes his work is felt more than understood, offering space for viewers to shift from head to heart. For Eric, that shift is the quiet power of abstraction.

Eric earned his MFA in Painting from the University of Oklahoma in 1987. From 1987 to 2014, he exhibited and sold work across Texas in numerous solo and group exhibitions. After several years in Santa Fe, he relocated to Washington in 2020. He now paints daily in his Port Townsend studio, following an intuitive process that continues to evolve.
