Lydia Bassis is an abstract painter based in Seattle, Washington, whose work tells deeply personal stories through an invented language of symbols. Working intuitively, her paintings delve into the unseen forces of our world—capturing energy, emotions, and experiences that often defy words.

Her work has been showcased in galleries across the United States and is held in both private and public collections. Lydia is the recipient of several prestigious awards, including a grant from 4Culture, a Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation Fellowship, and residencies at both the Vermont Studio Center and The Women’s Studio Workshop in New York.

Lydia earned her MFA from Rutgers University, a BFA in Printmaking, and a BA in Art History from the University of Washington.
