Rachel Illingworth

Contemporary Printmaker

Seattle, Washington

Rachel Illingworth is a Seattle-based visual artist working primarily in printmaking. Her layered, textural works are created using shellac-coated cardboard plates — a process that allows for subtle variations across each edition and reflects her ongoing exploration of repetition, perception, and light.

Moving fluidly between abstraction and figuration, Rachel’s work captures the shifting interplay of light across built and natural environments. Her compositions are informed by both architectural form and organic stillness — evoking atmosphere as much as image.

Originally from Tasmania, Rachel studied graphic design and illustration before finding her way to printmaking post-graduation. A year of travel eventually brought her to Seattle, where she now lives and works, while still spending time in rural Victoria, Australia — a duality that continues to shape her visual language.

Her work is held in a range of private and public collections, including Nordstrom, the Westin Hotel, and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.
