Seth Sexton

Multimedia Artist

Seattle, Washington

Seth Sexton is a Seattle-based multimedia artist whose current work centers around hyper-detailed pen and ink drawings. Drawing inspiration from his meditative practice and the study of indigenous wisdom, Seth creates with purpose and intention, offering moments of reflection to each viewer. His intricate compositions invite contemplation and a deeper engagement with the world around us.

Raised on a farm in Chimacum, Washington, Seth spent his childhood balancing the physical labor of farm life with the delicate discipline of ballet. He later shifted from dance to biochemistry at the University of Washington before receiving a BFA in painting. His artistic journey led to a fruitful collaboration with metal artist Cathy McClure under the name SID INC., which focused on multimedia installations and sparked international artistic partnerships.

Seth spent three years in Panajachel, Guatemala, where he immersed himself in the study of Tzu’tu’jil and the indigenous arts and rituals of the Mayan people in the Atitlán region. Having returned to Seattle, he continues to blend the laborious rituals of agrarian society with visual and performing arts, contributing his collaborative multimedia choreographies to Seattle institutions such as Velocity Dance Center, On the Boards, Jack Straw New Media Gallery, Hedreen Gallery, Soil Gallery, and Bumbershoot, among others. His work continues to merge the realms of visual art, ritual, and performance.
