Black.Blooms I

• Archival ink on paper, unframed
• 13" H x 10" W

"Black.Blooms I" is an original archival ink drawing on paper by Leslie Stoner, part of a new trio of intimate 13 x 10 inch works. Here her maze line is drawn bolder and more open than in her larger pieces, the looping paths reading crisp and graphic across the sheet. A pale, winding channel of bare paper runs from the upper left down toward the lower right, widening into an open pool where the largest of three black blooms rests. The other two sit on the patterned banks above, their solid, softly mottled surfaces heavy against the lively linework. The effect is like looking down on a stream with flowers floating past, calm and quietly playful. With its rounded-corner border, hand-titled and signed below, it is an accessible way to begin collecting Stoner's meditative work.
