A large tree stump commands the center of this luminous, life-size composition, its broad surface painted in vivid turquoise and laden with candles, dried grasses, and small offerings — an improvised altar at the threshold between the natural and the ceremonial. Inspired by a 17th-century cosmograph, Erickson bridges the physical and the metaphysical through high-chroma color and richly textured brushwork, capturing the slow passage of time etched into bark and growth rings. What might initially read as a remnant of loss becomes, in her hands, a monument to endurance and renewal — an elegant reminder of the life that persists in every fragment of the natural world.

Seattle Art Source procures artists for our roster proactively, and we generally do not accept unsolicited submissions. However, we do review all inquiries monthly for potential future projects or open calls.
Due to the high volume of inquiries we receive, we are unable to respond individually to every submission. If there is a potential fit now, or in the future, we will reach out to that artist.
However, we love following artists on social, meeting artists at artwalk, hosting community events, and amplifying art content.
We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase and are happy to help resolve any issues once your artwork is received.
Due to the one-of-a-kind nature of our artwork, pieces may be exchanged for Seattle Art Source credit within 3 days of purchase, provided the work is returned in the condition it was received.
Non-commissioned artwork purchased online is eligible for an exchange within 7 days of receipt. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the purchaser.
Please note: Commissioned artwork, sale items, and photography prints are final sale and not eligible for exchange.
