“Veil” is a raw, close-up study of draped fabric that pushes toward abstraction without fully leaving the physical world behind. Angular brushstrokes and scraped whites carve out the folds and creases of cloth, while deep charcoals and near-blacks press in from the edges, creating a stark contrast that feels charged rather than quiet. Warm ochre threads through the composition in flashes, keeping the palette from feeling cold. The result is a work that finds drama and tension in something ordinary — fabric rendered as something forceful, even confrontational.
Scherer studied with NW Master William Cumming, whom she met at the Art Institute of Seattle, in 1984. His influence was instrumental in her understanding of color, design and its use in painting. Amy passes along years of experience and wisdom to her own students now as well as pursuing her full time career as a professional artist in Washington State.

Yes. We also host select exhibitions, pop-ups, and open studio events throughout the year at our Georgetown gallery. We also participate in the monthly Georgetown Art Attack on the second Saturday of each month. During business hours we offer viewings by appointment. Availability varies, so we recommend scheduling a time in advance.

Seattle Art Source procures artists for our roster proactively, and we generally do not accept unsolicited submissions. However, we do review all inquiries monthly for potential future projects or open calls.
Due to the high volume of inquiries we receive, we are unable to respond individually to every submission. If there is a potential fit now, or in the future, we will reach out to that artist.
However, we love following artists on social, meeting artists at artwalk, hosting community events, and amplifying art content.
We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase and are happy to help resolve any issues once your artwork is received.
Due to the one-of-a-kind nature of our artwork, pieces may be exchanged for Seattle Art Source credit within 3 days of purchase, provided the work is returned in the condition it was received.
Non-commissioned artwork purchased online is eligible for an exchange within 7 days of receipt. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the purchaser.
