"Shadow.Blooms I" is an original archival ink and oil drawing on paper by Leslie Stoner, the first in a new five-part series. Dense fields of hand-drawn maze line, each looping path traced with Stoner's signature steady hand, gather like clouds along a diagonal, leaving broad channels of bare cream paper open between them. Three solid black blooms, pressed in oil with a soft, mottled texture, float across the patterned field, their scalloped edges reading as flowers, leaves, or shadows cast from above. The contrast is striking: the intricate, meditative linework against the heavy, velvety black, and both against the quiet of the empty paper. Living on Whidbey Island, Stoner has long explored the meeting of rooted earth and open sky, and here the composition feels like a garden seen from the air. Seattle Art Source procures artists for our roster proactively, and we generally do not accept unsolicited submissions. However, we do review all inquiries monthly for potential future projects or open calls.
Due to the high volume of inquiries we receive, we are unable to respond individually to every submission. If there is a potential fit now, or in the future, we will reach out to that artist.
However, we love following artists on social, meeting artists at artwalk, hosting community events, and amplifying art content.
We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase and are happy to help resolve any issues once your artwork is received.
Due to the one-of-a-kind nature of our artwork, pieces may be exchanged for Seattle Art Source credit within 3 days of purchase, provided the work is returned in the condition it was received.
Non-commissioned artwork purchased online is eligible for an exchange within 7 days of receipt. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the purchaser.
